WEDDING TREND: Something Blue Bridal Accessories
You’ve likely heard the saying, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” but have you ever wondered where the “something blue” comes from? The old, the new and the borrowed make somewhat common sense, but why blue? Interestingly, blue has been connected to weddings since ancient Rome where brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity; and in the late 19th century, blue was a popular color for wedding gowns as indicated in proverbs like, "Marry in blue, lover be true." Each of these four items within the English poem refers to a good luck token for a bride where if the bride carries all four items on her wedding day, she will have a happy marriage. Although wearing these items symbolizes good luck, they're also a fun tradition that gives the bride an opportunity to express her admiration for a few special people in her life, AND an opportunity to express her own personal bridal style! Featured in these gorgeous images is a plethora of blue items styled and photographed by the über talented “T&T Dynamite”.....Tanya Lippert Photography and Tia Reagan of Freebird Productions. Many brides choose to wear a blue-trimmed garter but you could also consider sapphire jewelry, blue shoes, a blue mini-veil, a blue ribbon accentuating your bridal bouquet, a blue pill box hat, a feathered blue hair accessory, a blue brooch, or....the list goes on so get creative and have fun when it comes to your something blue!
